1. Can the RhinoPro flooring handle people standing on it between the support bars of the roof rack?

Yes. The RhinoPro flooring is made of high-density polymer materials and can withstand a 310LB guy jumping up and down between the roof rack rails on one foot without stressing the flooring, however the truck may take a beating. And yes this has been done, but not recommended for the sake of the roof rails. Also the impact characteristics of the flooring make it ideal for just about any abuse you can think of.

2. Why buy a RhinoPro flooring when I can just use aluminum diamond plate for a fraction of the cost?

Fair question, well sort of. Aluminum diamond plate is not exactly cheap and the weight can add up fast especially when you consider the needed thickness to be comparable to the RhinoPro flooring. A 1/8 inch thick aluminum diamond plate is the thinnest you can go with and is very brittle and can easily fracture under minor impact. Also consider that the weight of a full length 1/8" thick aluminum diamond plate for a Discovery I weighs-in at almost 55lbs, over 23lbs more then the RhinoPro flooring which is 1/4 inch thick. Every pound counts up on the roof rack and the more the flooring weighs the more your roof rack payload suffers. Also considering the cost of fabricating and bending aluminum can add up and aluminum does not like to be bent and will not produce smooth bends. Not to mention the fact that aluminum diamond plate will rattle, tarnish, and get extremely hot under the sun. We are all fans of diamond plate and do use it for various things but overall diamond plate and the RhinoPro flooring are just made for different applications.

3. Since the RhinoPro flooring is black does it get hot while under the sun all day?

No. The RhinoPro is made of polymers and dissipates heat extremely well. Unlike steel or aluminum which absorb heat and can reach egg frying temperatures very fast under the sun, the RhinoPro dissipates the heat continuously and quickly. the RhinoPro flooring may become warm to the touch while under the sun all day but will not reach scolding hot temperatures.

4. I was told that the RhinoPro flooring will warp on a hot day, is that true?

Not at all, the flooring will not warp. Like any other material when exposed to the heat of the summer sun all day it will expand slightly. The difference with the RhinoPro flooring is that when it does expand it does not exert outward pressure like aluminum or most metals. Instead the flooring may bow slightly, mainly if the vehicle is parked under the hot sun all day. Also this effect can easily be avoided by not over tightening the clamps supplied with the flooring, which when properly tightened will allow for the slight expansion. Nonetheless, the flooring will return to normal as soon as the vehicle moves or the noon sun passes and will not suffer any damage, guaranteed.

5. How is the RhinoPro flooring attached to the roof rack?

The RhinoPro Flooring is secured to the Roof Rack using high-quality stainless steel mounting clamps featuring color matched weather resistant coating that protects the finish of the Roof Rack rails and provides a professional fitted look. click here to see the clamp system in action.

6. Why can't the RhinoPro flooring ship with UPS Ground?

Although the RhinoPro floors are light enough to ship with the post office there one piece design puts there size over the UPS Ground maximums. As a result they must ship via fright truck, which is more expensive then ground but considering this is a one time purchase that will last the lifetime of the roof rack it can be well worth the fright cost to get the most out of your roof rack.

7.Will the RhinoPro flooring cut down on that annoying howling noise at freeway speeds?

Absolutely, if you ask anyone with an mechanical engineering background they would tell you the same thing you already know. If the roof rack surface has a top and a bottom the wind will streamline over or under the roof rack rather than whistling or howling through the support bars. It's simple physics, although we don't recommend boring yourself with the details and trust what our customers have realized for themselves, the floor eliminates those annoying howling noises.
